Pretoria, May 18 (Prensa Latina) Affiliates of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) as well as the Communist Party, have called for a demonstration of support for Venezuela in Pretoria. The main South African workers’ federation ratified its support for the Bolivarian Revolution in the face of a growing escalation of hostility against the South American nation and the government of President Nicolas Maduro.

According to a press release, the participants in the rally, who will deliver a memorandum at the United Nations offices in Pretoria, refute all attempts to destabilize that country.

The text reiterates the call to respect the democratically elected government in Caracas and the cessation of interference in Venezuela’s internal affairs.

Related sources consulted by Prensa Latina in Pretoria emphasized that the South African territory will not lend itself to plans against Venezuela.

The Venezuelan permanent representative to the UN, Rafael Ramírez, stressed that the internal problems of his country will be resolved without foreign interference, in line with national laws and the Constitution.

Ramírez showed at the agency’s headquarters photos of the violence carried out by opposition sectors, which refutes the United States representative’s thesis at the UN that the Venezuelan government uses force to dissolve peaceful demonstrations.
