Moscow, Jan 27 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke with representatives of about a dozen political formations of the Syrian opposition about their role in the search for a peaceful solution to the conflict.
The meeting with Lavrov was attended by leaders of the groups of Astana, Cairo and Moscow, as well as groups of the Syrian political opposition, the Popular Society Movement, the Popular Will and State Construction parties, among others.
Also the Special Envoy of the presidency for the Middle East and Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, met with the Syrian opposition, pointed out a note from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Lavrov called on those gathered here to consistently contribute to the new round of negotiations on Syria which opens on February 8 in Geneva, with the participation of heads of the armed groups.
Russia gave the Syrian political opposition a constitutional proposal to put it into practice if there was a consensus about it and a peaceful way out of the dispute as part of a political process.
