Paris, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) Cuba is very grateful for the support provided by several organizations of solidarity in France to the struggle against the blockade imposed by the United States, Elio Gamez, vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), said today.

The representative of the Caribbean nation described as fundamental the strong support by many French friends in the campaign against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed to Havana for more than 50 years.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Gamez particularly referred to the Coordinating Committee for the elimination of Blockade and the return of Guantanamo, an initiative aimed at joining efforts from many French organizations that support Cuba in these two battles.

‘This is a very important project because it is not the same isolated initiatives than joint actions, ‘he said, adding that the latter are more likely to have a significant impact.

The ICAP vice president also stressed that all solidarity groups are performing a valuable work leading up to release the Cuban reality, in comparison with misinformation campaigns carried out by great media.

In this regard, he stressed the disclosure of issues such as the updating of the economic model and its purpose to strengthen the construction of socialism.

‘We will not give up our principles of domestic policy, and not on the outside. We will continue supporting the just causes in Latin America, supporting the revolutionary processes, denouncing the maneuvers of the rightwing and the extreme right in the region and providing our collaboration,’ he said.

Gamez is in France to participate in the annual national meeting of the France-Cuba Solidarity Association, ‘which has a very outstanding work and was in fact one of the first of its kind in Europe,’ he stressed.
