Cuba’s National Lyric Theater Premieres La Mandragola Liberata.

 

 

 

 

 

Havana, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s National Lyric Theater presents today the world premiere of the opera La Mandragola Liberata, a new version by Serbian composer Ivan Jevtić.

The Alicia Alonso Great National Theater of Havana will host the performances on Saturday and Sunday by Cuban baritone singer Alfredo Más, who will play the main character Calímaco.

Soloists and the rest of the performers will be accompanied by musicians of the National Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Enrique Pérez Mesa.

Together, they will perform the musical production in Italian and the second premiere of the European composer and academician in Cuba.

Sopranos Dayana Hernández and Ivette Betancourt will alternate the role of Sostrata, while first soloist Milagros de los Ángeles and Yoslainy Pérez will play Isabella.

The play is based on the homonymous comedy by Nicolo Machiavelli.
