The Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Mukhisa Kituyi, will undertake a working visit to Cuba, June 18-21, 2016, reported the Cuban Foreign Ministry (Minrex), June 9.

According to Minrex, in Geneva, Switzerland, the senior official met with Anayansi Rodríguez, Cuban ambassador to the United Nations and other international organizations based in the city.

During the meeting, which took place in a friendly and cooperative atmosphere, the two officials discussed the Secretary-General’s upcoming visit, work agenda and the desired outcomes of the trip.

The meeting also served to address issues related to cooperation efforts between Cuba and the organization, which promotes development through international trade.
The Cuban representative made the most of the occasion to thank the UNCTAD for its historic support for the Cuban people in their struggle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
