Cuba and the United States With New Cultural Ties
Havana, Apr 20 (Prensa Latina) Cuba”s Culture Minister, Julián González celebrated today the ties established between this nation and the United States thanks to the visit of a delegation of more than 70 personalities from the northern country.
According to the Minister, this is a good opportunity for representatives of the culture and arts of the United States to know our nation.
Exchanges of this type are one of the deepest and most solid pillars of any integration, and allows us to learn from each other, but it should be in both directions, he pointed out.
Meanwhile, the secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, David J. Skorton expressed he felt very impressed by the development of arts and culture in this country.
There are many young people involved and their abilities and interests are very broad, so we want to build a stronger partnership, said the authority of one of largest museum groups in the world.
For the head of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities of the United States, Margo Lion, the visit allows to learn more about the Cuban culture and to build bridges between them. We are interested in all areas of Cuban culture and hope that together we can do more in the future, said the theater producer.
The day before, the members of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities visited several cultural institutions of the capital, visited the headquarters of the theater group La Colmenita, and held exchanges with children and teachers at the Primary School Miguel Fernández Roig.
After touring the University of the Arts, one of the most popular members of the delegation, the rapper Usher, moved to the coastal town of Regla and was in a hip hop gathering.
The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities of the United States is an advisory body to the White House on these issues and works directly with major agencies related to culture.
