Cuba, United States and human rights. By Omar Perez Solomon

images (1)In Cuba it is given to every human being from birth a real and absolute equality of opportunity for the fullest physical and intellectual development, regardless of sex, race or social background . No child beggars, or abandoned in the streets and compulsory education reaches the ninth grade are.

The Human Development Report 2015 of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which includes rates of life expectancy, access to education and standard of living, ranks Cuba with high human development.

Child prostitution, so widespread in developing countries and the first world like the United States, and trade in children, do not exist in this locked and island accused.

While in many countries the infant mortality exceeds 30 or 40 per thousand live births, which means that hundreds of thousands of children die every year in Cuba the figure has been reduced to less than 5 in less than one year lower many developed countries. From the first month of pregnancy until labor occurs all Cuban women in gestation have a follow through, unique in the world and recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) primary health system, which has allowed maternal mortality will stand at 35.1 per hundred thousand, also the lowest among all nations.

Life expectancy at birth has risen to 79, since the triumph of the Revolution until today, enabling every citizen a longer, healthier and safer life.

The unemployment rate is below 4%, the index that ranks among the top 30 best performing countries in this area, above developed countries.

What a contrast to what happens in the country that champion of human rights and said that since 1985 is doing the impossible to condemn Cuba in the various mechanisms of the United Nations (UN).

In revolutionary Cuba has never tortured a human being, but in the territory illegally occupied in Guantánamo, theUS has tortured detainees who have not had the right to be defended by lawyers.

Racism, death with firearms in schools and public places, the increase in the penal population already exceeds 2 million, unemployment and the widening gap between rich and poor, are evils of American society that transgress the human rights, and that President Barack Obama acknowledged in his recent visit to Cuba.

In his address to representatives of Cuban civil society, in the Gran Teatro de La Habana, Alicia Alonso, Obama said :

“But I think that human rights are universal. I think they are the rights of the American people, the people of Cuba, and people around the world. “

So I wonder, what rights do thousands of Iraqis, Libyans, Syrians and Afghans who have been killed by the bombing of US aircraft, including the famous drones in recent years.Once again it shows that the speech tenant White House goes one way and go the other facts.
